Jeff Stiel

The new year brought a new face to the Miller Broadcasting Group, as Jeff Stiel joined the staff at WLPO / WAJK / WKOT Radio. As Production Coordinator and Copywriter, Stiel will work with the sales staff in creating advertiser campaigns, and managing on-air commercial product.
A 26-year radio veteran, Stiel began his career at WGLC, in his hometown of Mendota. He spent a short time at WZOE in Princeton, before scoring his first full-time gig at KWHW in Altus, Oklahoma. He eventually returned to the Illinois Valley in 1984 as an on-air talent and music director for WLRZ. In 1992, Stiel left the air, and begin his copywriting career at WCMY/ WRKX radio, in Ottawa. There, he earned 11 Silver Dome awards from the Illinois Broadcaster’s Association for excellence in broadcasting and small market commercial production. He has also done free-lance writing and television voice-over work for Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating.
Mr. Stiel is happily married, and has resided in La Salle for the past 14 years. His wife, Kendra (Kmitta) Stiel, is co-owner of the Hummer Insurance Agency, downtown La Salle. The couple has 2 sons, Jacob and Brandon. As proud supporters of IVAR, the Stiel family also shares their home with their beloved kitties, Squirt, Boomer, Lucky, Dave and Smudge.
In his spare time, Jeff enjoys collecting 45’s for his jukebox, baseball with the boys, fishing, golf and bicycling.
